Best and accurate, call shops around and ask for estimates. If your vehicle still under warranty, take it to the dealership. The dealership will charge you way more. I use them as last resort when I need some really special.
For that, just ask to friends and family. Prices variates from place to place. The part itself is cheap, the labor is the killer, plus you might have to pay for Coolant too since is going to spill some... lots of hidden charges, like purging the system and such and man hours... Also ask if is for how long is guarantied.
They might also ask you if you want fries with that too :-))

Just a moment, I'm going to scope out my daughters Chevy Tahoe, the motor is the same I want to see exactly where the thermostat housing is.
Back again. The thermostat housing is on the lower right (passenger side of the engine) side of the water pump casting and is secured by two cap screws. The only trouble I see is the mechanic first has to drain all the coolant out of the radiator. The whole job should cost less than $35.00. If you live in Up State NY I'll do it for the price of a new Ac Delco thermostat which is less than #10.00.
Good luck TOSHAY2!

Your costs can be as little as 50.00, if you can do your own repairs.
Some repair facility will want to do a pressure test first, then a coolant flush to cover a dirty cooling system.
First and foremost if you over heated the engine you'll probably want to get the system pressure tested.
Have the entire cooling system checked, best practice.

If you can do it about 10 to 15$a Most shops will charge about an hour labor and the part cost, plus some new coolant, or about $100 in California.

Do you have friends that could do it for you?
If you take your car to a mechanic to get the job done, the labour will cost more than the thermostat.
