I think this explins how it can NOT mean sex. Sandy wouldnt have sex with a gy she met over the summer... a true love vow means how much they care for each other. They prmise to meet again and alsopromise that their love will last forever

haha, innocent little Sandra Dee having sex? No way! Basically when they made their "true love vow," they were promising one another (verbally) that they'd love each other, and no one else, forever. Great song.

no they didn't have sex. in the song Danny is making it like he had sex to all of his friends, sandy is describing to her friends how much they fell in love -- by "true love vow" she is saying they pledged their love for one another verbally.....
