Ok so here is the story and I only want answers that are correct, Well I am 15 1/2 and I have had problems with my attendance I have been going to court for my attendance in school. I got a call today that I was going to be put in foster care tomorrow. I am quitting school in february thats when I turn 16. Are there any exceptions that I could quit school now, I live in Massachusetts. I was thinking, what would happen if I got expelled from school, would I still have to go to foster care, the only reason I am going is because of my attendance. I have no behavioral problems, is there any way around this, is there any way I can quit school now so I don't have to go in foster care??? Please help me

Federal law says that all children must go to school until age 16. So, sorry, but you can't quit now. You only have 6 months to go, so hang in there. Actually, there isn't much you can do in the "real" world, even at 16. You should graduate from high school so you'll have the references to get a job.

Either you misunderstood the call , someone is trying to scare you into behaving or this question is a hoax. Kids don't get put into Foster Care because of something they have done, they get removed from the home because of something the parents did or didn't do. And nobody would be calling to warn you. On the other hand, you parents could go and ask the court for help because they cannot control you and that could land you somewhere worse than foster care so just go to school!

Do not look for the easy way out. That is what probably caused your problems to begin with.

You probably have to go to school unless you are incarcerated. Come to think of it there are schools in jail too.

Foster care seems pretty definite at this point. Do the best that youcan in foster care. How long willyou have to be in foser care? Do not do anything to make things difficult for yourself or to prolong foter care.

Good luck.

Wow, that is far too many problems for someone your age. The 2 best pieces of advice I can offer is do NOT get expelled. Don't have that follow you around from now And see if you can enroll in a job corps of some sort. Best of luck to you!

I'm sorry to hear this - it sounds very sad to have something so simple as doing something for your own good to prevent you being removed from your home. You cannot do anything about it. You will likely be in the system even after you quit school so I hope that you're able to salvage your life. Good luck.
