Oh, boy, what a mess. Go to your local home improvement hardware store. They should have varnish stripper and can give you advice on how to apply it correctly. Good luck!

Well, depending on how thick you put the varnish, and how evenly, it could take quite a while for it to dry. So, don't panic yet..... give it a week or so.
Other than that - you can sand the floors down to start over. You'll have a big mess though it the floor is still tacky....
Good luck.

varnish is almost unheard of these days do you mean polyurethane, also there is no hardener with any floor varnish, if you did use poly and didn't allow enough time to dry between coats the bottom coat will keep the top coat soft for a long time, waiting is the only answer as it will dry eventually

It sounds like it may have been humid where you are. Two options, leave the varnish on & blow hot air over flooring to dry it out. Or using a disposable mop & old coffee cans, mop odorless solvent (turpentine) over entire floor, may take several passes. Each time with clean turps. Allow the solvent to sit in the cans for a few days to let the sludge settle. Pour off the clean solvent & save, properly dispose of cans & mop (air dry outside). Warning: use of solvents is highly flammable, use with care!

all people's actual with regard to the time and potential. I had an identical subject in a condo some years back. it is not well worth it except your landlord assist you to deduct the fee out of your hire. Renting a sander is a robust decision. a reasonably greater fee-effective one is to hire a buffer and use sanding heads (yet observe that they might get gunked up truthfully). Plus you need to use the buffer as a buffer once you're refinishing. in spite of course you chosen, contain skill kit. it rather is purely too enormous a discomfort without them

you probably needed to use a hardner mixed with the varnish...go back to the paint store and ask if a hardner was to be mixed with the varnish.the best solution is to get the proper mixture and re-paint the floor.

Did you sand with 220 grit between coats that you allowed to dry? If not start over from square 1.
