My grandmother had tons and tons of books. Most of which haven't been taken out of the boxes and I don't want them. Sure, I'll keep some, but I want to sell as many as I can. I know about ebay and those sites, but my mother says it's better to do it in person than over the web, so what store buys books?

There is usually a used book store in every major town. We have 2nd Story Books, for instance. It would be a good idea to make sure the bookstore has an appraiser on hand, since some of your grandmother's books may be worth more than just a "used" book would be. Go to the yellow pages and look under "Books". If you have no luck, then check with your public library. They usually have an idea of book vendors in any town and may be able to steer you toward an appraiser, too.

Used bookstores don't pay well. I've had my best luck on amazon.com. There are tons of collectors wanting my very old books, especially the out of print ones.
