the game has four white and green boards that have little holes like a peg board. The playing pieces are knights and archers and things like that. I know it was around in the 80s, and I think the title starts with an F. If anyone has any ideas of what the name is that would be great.

I think the game you are referring to is called "Feudal" an old 3M bookshelf game.

This game is called "Feudal". It was published by 3M as part of their Bookshelf Games series that started in 1962 and continued through 1975, when Avalon Hill bought the rights to the 3M Games. Feudal was one of the former 3M titles that continued to be in print by A-H until they were bought by Hasbro in 1999. I have a Yahoo! Group about the 3M Games--it's on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/3m_games. Also, you can find Feudal and other 3M Games on eBay. Thank you.

The pictures on the boardgamegeek website definitely look like the game that you described...

Most of the people who own that game seem to describe it as "chess-like" only better!!
