6 weeks ago i had severe food poisoning i caught abroad, When i returned to the UK a week later i went to the doctors, I never took antibiotics but i was prescribed medication to settle my stomach, i cannot remember the name of it but it is also given to paitents that suffer with serious IBS. I remember it stateing not to take whilst pregnant or trying for a baby.
I have since found out as a shock i'm 5 weeks pregnant. Around the same i started to take the medication.

Is this going to harm the baby?

Talk with your doctor. In most cases so long as you do not continue to use most medications have time to clear your system before the placenta is functional at 8-10 weeks.

If you are 5 weeks pregnant. That means implatation occured only 3 weeks ago. For the first 2 weeks of pregnancy, a women is not actually pregnant. Just getting ready for ovulation. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Look up medications on www.safefetus.com.

If you are five weeks pregnant now, that means you conceived approximately in the past few weeks, and had your last period five weeks ago. That means you would have most likely taken the medication prior to conception.

You can't change what has or hasn't happened. Just relax and tell your doctor about it. You and the baby are likely fine.

Your doctor can best tell you if the medication you were taking has harmed your unborn child or not. I would inform the doctor as soon as possible so as to rid yourself of any further worry. Make the call right away and tell your doctor of your concern about this. You owe it to your unborn baby to do so quickly.
