Just that i think, 2 of my friends had cesaerean 1st times and natural births after.
Of course there is a risk and i guess the scar could be restitched if this happened.
If you really want a natural birth talk to your midwife and take her advise thats whos judgement you should listen to and hope you get your natural birth x

If you have a planned VBAC with supportive care around you the risks can be very low...but you'll need to know a few things about your history...Why did you have a cesarean in the first place? could that be a problem in the future? What type of incision and suturing did you have??? There are a lot of thing to know before you have a VBAC...(Vaginal Birth After Cesarean)

The risk of uterine rupture in a non-augmented/induced labor is about less than 1%...And that is probably one of the worst things that can happen during a VBAC! Of course rupture can happen in women who have never had c-sections, too!

YOu should check out ICAN! They have tons of info and great support groups! http://ican-online.net/

Some good books on the subject are:

The VBAC Companion by Diana Korte
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
Obstetric Myth Versus Research Reality by Henci Goer
And
Pregnancy Childbirth & the Newborn by Simkin Whalley and Keppler!

Depending on how far along you are, if you are seriously considering VBAC you have some homeowrk infront of you...

Vaginal Birth is best when the mom, baby & pregnancy are healthy and normal...Unfortunatly due to OB teachings and convenience C-sections are done way to often!

I am 9 weeks right now and I have been planning the upcoming birth (a VBAC)of this child for the entire year before I even conceived!!! And there is still no promise I will give birth vaginally!

Do some homework...and read for yourself BOTH the PRos and Cons...of everything...

hi hun.I had an emergency cesarean with my first daughter and was allowed to try for a natural delivery with my 2nd.Unfortunatly that one ended in another section as they though my scar was rupturing. Im currently 29 weeks pregnant with #3 and they wont let me try naturally this time after what happened before. Im quite gutted as it means i will never deliver naturally but i know its best for me and the baby. I think you are right to give a natural birth a try though as plenty of women manage to have a vaginal birth after a section, i was just very unlucky. There obviously is the risk that you will end up with another section but not nessesarily.Good luck hun and im sure it will all go really well for you x

Not high my sister had an emergency c section when her daughter was stillborn Last year and the consultant wanted her to have a natural birth over a c section so it is a better option to go for natural xx

VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), are actually better for the mother and baby in most cases. It really depends on how long ago your previous c-section was, and how and why you had one. I am currently ttc, and I hope to have a vbac with my next child.

Here are some sites that I have found helpful

I had a VBAC ( Vaginal Birth After Caesarean) and it all went fine.

It all depends on how long age u had the c-section i think, do some research.

Another emergency section, rupturing of the uterus, and hemorrhaging. The biggest risk is of an emergency hysterectomy if the uterus is so damaged by the birth. But its not common.

The doctors wouldnt allow you to have a v-back if they werent confident that your body and the state of your uterus can handle it.
