Probably, Brown comes to mind. Every president has done this. Usually a donor "buys" an office from a president before they win the race to guarantee their seat.

You alreay know the answer to this.
To the person that said "Congress approved" them... what kind of ecuse is that??????? It was also a heavilly GOP based Congress (if you have to mention them). I have voted more Republican than Democrat and in the last 8 years I have been incredibly disappointed by the GOP's role of being blind to the mismanagement of this administration. Is winning more important than the nation's infrastructure?
BTW, Pfo is correct about giving major donors (by other presidencies) a lot of minor (and some major) roles.... the difference in previous presidencies is that they gave the posts to people that were somewhat qualified... and if they did not qualify then they gave donors a deputy office (a high position but not the top dog). You can give a ambassador to Belgium post to a donor but you should NOT give a donor the head of FIMA or the HUD offices.
This president is truly one of the worst managers I have ever seen.

Not really being able to tell you right away how many of those are his friends_except for Karl Rove_or how "experienced" they were in a particular job post. I will say though, that I am truly amazed on how such intelligent people have gotten embroilled in things which could have been worked out totally different. And actually it appears Mr. Bush has been left alone. At least that's the impression it gives me.
