im having a hysterectomy on the 24th october and i wonder will i be ok for the 22nd dec as i am going on a holiday to gambia my gyny says yes but is it still to soon. he must be correct but others seem to think i may be pushing it.

Yes, about 6 weeks for recovery is the norm.

Yes,you will be fine as long as like someone earlier said,you dont carry anything heavy,the required time off work is usually 12 weeks but 9 if you have a sedentary job,and it will be 9 weeks from op to holiday for you.

yeah you'll be fine, my aunty had it done about 1 month and half ago and went on hols 2 weeks ago and was fine.

like someone earlier said, if the doctor didnt think it would be ok, he wouldnt have said it's not a problem.

take care and no heavy lifting! be careful when sitting down and getting up as you can strain the stomach a little so do it slowly.

Really it does take about three months to get yourself back to anything like normal. But maybe you will be able to take it easy on your holiday, it really depends how much you intend to be doing.

hiya your doc wouldnt have said yes is he thought it would put u in danger so go with his advice...at the same time tho nearer the time decide for yourself if your not feeling up to it dont go...sure you'll be ok ...good luck with your opertation

you'll be fine as long as some one carries your case, and you take it easy, no lifting or stretching, enjoy your holiday
