If you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)
Can you get pregnant on the first day of your period?
It isn't very likely but it is possible. All women ovulate at different times. Just relax, you probably aren't pregnant.
Can you get pregnant the day before your period?

I know this is a generic answer, but anytime you have unprotected sex there is a chance (however slight) that you could get pregnant.
Ovulation and menstruation cycles can vary greatly between women. The old notion that day 14 before or after your period is your most fertile time is a myth.
Your best bet might be to buy a test kit from a pharmacy to check your fertility in order to track your ovulation cycle and see how it coincides with your menstrual cycle.

If for sure her period was going to start the next day, then she would not get pregnant because the egg is only good for 24 hours, and she would be about 2 weeks past ovulation. The sperm would not live long enough to fertilize the next egg.
Both times I got pregnant I went off the pill 3 months before we were ready to start trying, and we used the calendar/timing method to avoid preganncy. We had sex right before and right after my period, and we didn't get pregnant until the months we timed sex around ovulation. However, if you are not ina place in your life where you can take care of a baby then you shouldn't even attempt that, and always should use protection.

You can't get pregnant a day before period or during it. You're not pregnant! Plain and simple.

depends on her cycle as to when she ovulates
but if she had sex the day of her period chances are slim even the day before
Ovulation usually occurs 2 weeks after the first day of your cycle...............
Have her test the day she is late, testing too soon can give a false result
