Some days ago read in a local paper that the mayor was saying how much county had improved, and cited how there were less homeless. Apparently he doesn't go out much, not only round the downtown area where there seems to be more always. But also in the beach city area.

Today as I waited for the bus, I couldn't have believed it was for real, if I hadn't seen it myself. There were dozens and dozens just crossing at the intersection. Some seem completely sane, and even healthy, while others are in terrible shape.

This being South Florida someone would say that it's not unusual at beginning of winter for the homeless to move camp here from other states. But we're still in September!

These people need shelters, and recently_authorities had said these had filled up. And if this is any indication, there'll be thousands more in these coming months. But the mayor says all the contrary.

Personal anecdote has never been a reliable source of data. I'll wait to see what the research says.

sounds like the mayor is using a different counting system than you do.

Have your mayor consult the mayor of Seattle, WA. We don't have a perfect resolution or fix to the large population of homeless here, but the local churches take turns to host a "Tent City" in different areas to help out the permanent shelters.

They aren't lying about the homeless people and not seeing so many of them. If you walked around with your nose in the air you wouldn't see that many either. If that wasn't good then how about it depends if you see the gutter as have full or half empty!

Say something often enough and people will eventually believe the lies....if people really knew the truth and politicians actually told the truth, then we might have to actually DO something about it, and someone would have to give something up. God forbid.

Politicians get better benefits and perks than most working people and they will claim almost anything to keep their jobs and stay in politics.
