I just purchased 2 St. Thomas Elvis Presley Coins on ebay from an all coin seller ( arkadyn ) who has a 99.99 % positive feedback. I paid $ 11.99 for a 1993 500 Dobras uncirculated Elvis Presley coin + $ 19.99 for a 1993 1000 Dobras Silver Proof Elvis Presley coin ... I bought these coins as an Elvis fan not as a coin collector.....but I was wondering what their book value is ? What is their intrinsic value ? Has anyone bought from this ebay seller ? Is this seller reputable ? I have been told that the Elvis Presley $ 5 & $ 10 Marshall Island coins don't have much value & are not even used much as legal tender ?....but, I am merely interested in obtaining one set of these Elvis coins simply as Elvis memorabillia although I am curious as to what the value of all 4 of these coins might be ?

The coins you bought are really not coins most coin collectors are interested in, for they are not used in commerce but were made as a non circulating commemorative. they have no history behind them except there were made to make money for the country that issued them. They pick subject they think may sell the coin. The 500 Dobras KM# 70 is made of copper nickel and was just issued in uncirculated grade and finish. It books for $12.50 to $15.00 so it would sell at the price you bought it for. Book value in most cases with modern coins is usually high. The 1000 Dobras is KM#71 and the coin is .925 silver and has .7242 Oz actual weight of silver. It came in a proof surface, the coin should have a mirror finish. You did a much better job here, for the coin books for $35-$40. As for the Marshall Island coins there is some doubt they are actually legal tender, this does not help in sales. If you can get the Elvis coin from there cheap, or even if you pay a little too much, as long as you want it who cares what others think. I wanted an 1861-O 1/2 dollar from the New Orleans mint for it is a very historic coin, I paid too much, but I have one. The object of a hobby is to have fun and if you make a buck or too great, if not so what.
