Sometimes when I shut down my computer it will automatically restart. I have done a virus check, used my window washer, defraged my system. I have no idea what's wrong.

thats an odd one - it could be a hardware glitch between the mobo/power supply ?? I dunno really so forgive me for throwing out a guess..

go into your bios and check the power settings in that case: if its set to boot after AC power loss, disable that function.

It could be as simple as you went to shut down but selected restart by accident. But if that isn't the case then I would check for spyware and virus. Worst come to worst when you shut it down turn off the power to the PC and then you won't have to worry about it.

You need to run a better A/V program. This is a classic malware (virus) signature. Computers don't normally start themselves without user action.

Another reason for this is if the system is on a network it can be a BIOS setting "Wake on Lan" or "Wake on IRQ event" Turn these off.

mine did it for a while, was simply the router seeing if anything alive, and wakingthe PC up
