I've been Spotting?

I'm taking depo provera as a birth control. My shot was in july - next one is due in october. In august and september i didn't get my period... but for the past week i've been spotting... sometimes dark discharges and sometimes light red spot. always with a mucus thingy in it. Never soak a liner, but I change it often due to hygiene reasons. Sometimes it seems to stop but when I have intercourse, it brings it back. I've been on depo on and off for 5 years and my normal mestral cycle only last 2.5 days. Any thoughts??

Spotting can be a common side effect with Depo-Provera but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
