About two weeks ago here in Ireland, the decks started to appear for Christmas and I think even earlier in UK. Countdown has begun on QVC and we haven't even had halloween. Would the powers that be slow down and give us a chance to get over the summer hols, back to school and halloween before tormenting us and our children with Christmas stuff. I propose a ban on any mention of Christmas until Dec 1st at the earliest. I love Christmas but only for a day or two!

I actually start my Christmas shopping the day after the previous Christmas at the sales. I stockpile some things such as the bath and body baskets with lotions and soaps that you can get at walmart for 50% off, and also the angels that Hallmark sells and I store them in a box in the garage and give them to friends and my kids teachers the following Christmas. For my kids I start asking them what they want from Santa around Nov 1st, and then I go to the sales the day after Thanksgiving and buy their gifts at that time unless I see a good sale before that time.

Elric my friend Everyday is like Christmas Day in my house but without all the deckies. My kids and their kids call -we eat, have a drink no-one leaves without 'one of nannies bags'
I bought my cards in the Janury sales and most of the paper. Everytime I see a B.O.G.O.F bargain I buy it -use one and put one away for a pressie. As it is, I've just got to buy the turkey and veg The cake is made and pierced with holes ready
for regular doses of alcohol and we ate 2 Christmas puddings this week with custard -to get in the mood for partying (they were on offer in ASDA !)
Lighten up and live a little!

Yes, Sainsburys already have Christmas puddings in stock(and have done for about a fortnight), and the Blackpool illuminations are on(which are essentially Christmas decorations).

As an extra note, does anyone feel like their whole year is really spent building up to- and then paying for Christmas.

Definitely, three weeks ago my Wife and I were in a town centre card shop, they had Christmas decorations up, Christmas cards, wrapping paper, packaging etc on sale, they even played piped Christmas music, I really love Christmas, but this is going too far, they must think the public are so gullible.

"It's the most Wonderful time of the year". As soon as Halloween hits, it's just right around the corner. Too bad, everyones getting small gifts this year because I just got a car and making those payments....UGH! The older I get the sooner Christmas comes around didn't we just celebrate it yesterday????

not for me and it really annoys me that stores start Christmas before Halloween even gets here. by the time Christmas gets here I am just tired of seeing the decorations and lights period
