There is no real temporary fix. Some people try stop-leak additive and other things, which just gum up the entire system, leaving a nasty coating inside the motor causing less cooling and making the engine harder to take apart for any repairs. I would suggest you get it fixed right away before too much water/coolant gets into your oil and engine and ruins something causing a more costly repair.

This ain't Hollywood, honey. LOL. Nothing major, but when the gasket goes, it'll pass water into oil, vice versa, or out into the open air, depending on where the gasket lets go. Sometimes you'll see white smoke as the water and coolant get into the exhaust pipe and come out that way. Head gaskets blowing can be common on certain aluminum block engines. Anyway, generally no loud noises, you'll just lose some power, maybe quite a bit, if it's between 2 adjacent cylinders that fire one after the other. Go check the Internet, in Search punch in Grand Am Head gasket blowing, and see what hits you get, and learn what may happen to your engine. You can usually find info on your year and model car this way, and potential problems. It pays to do some research! Good luck, - The Gremlin Guy -

There are products in stores that you pour into the engine, but they sometimes don't work. It all depends on how big is the hole in the gasket. But ofcourse if they do work, it will be VERY temporary. If the head is blown, there is no fix for that.

Yes. It's called water-glass or sodium silicate. But unless you know what you are doing it's not going to work. If you have a mechanically inclined friend to help you, you can use it until you can afford to fix the engine properly. My experience is that it does wear out after about 6 months to a year.
