I got a $150.00 ticket a few moments ago. Even thought I still got the ticket, my argument to the officer was if he was carrying a nine pound baby on his bladder and it is 90 degrees here, wouldn't he have trouble walking too. The jerk still gave me a ticket!!! Whatever happened to chivalry. lol.

Where will it end ? Everyone thinks they have a right to a parking space close to the front . So they come up with an excuse for a sticker .
And all seem to forget it is for the HANDICAPPED !!!!!! I recently was at Advanced Auto
and saw Two guys pull up in a pickup truck. The driver pulled up to the HANDICAPPED parking spot hesitated a moment then pulled into the spot , the driver and the passenger both hopped out and ran inside . I checked and the driver put a handicapped card on his rear view mirror . Well neither was handicapped . I apologize but couldn't a friend or your husband have drove you . What if you had gone into labor while driving you could have endangered many lives .
You did say extremely pregnant . not baby bump pregnant .

Without a permit, it is illegal to park in a handicapped spot. If you were a spot or two over from that spot it still would have been difficult for you to walk. It's unfortunate that you had to be out in that temperature in your condition but you need a permit. There are people who need those spots more than pregnant women do like people in wheelchairs, etc. Why call him a jerk for enforcing the law? Depending on the amount of handicapped parking and whether he actually saw you at the car, he may have considered giving you a break. Submit a photo of your big baby with your ticket and fight it. It may be reduced or dismissed.

Ouch! That's a lot of money! I've seen some stores now that do have posted parking for expectant mothers in their parking lot, but its not really widespread.

I guess some would say that your weight isn't a sufficient reason, i.e. they would then have to allow really obese people to park in handicapped spaces too.

Still, the officer could have let you off with a warning, because that's $150 that won't be spent on your baby.

By the way, at least half the time I see someone get out of a car with a handicapped tag, its clear to me they don't really have a disability, they've just scammed a tag so they can park close. I've a co-worker with a tag, but her only handicaps are her massive hypochondria and her sense of entitlement.

My best wishes for your pregnancy!

"I will give you an answer, not always the one that you want, but what I believe." I'm quoting the fourth sentence of your profile and my honest answer is NO. Pregnancy, while uncomfortable, is not a handicap. Da*n, you're having a h*ll of a day - first that critter woman next door - now this! However, you might consider presenting your side of the parking ticket issue to a judge who will probably want your pregnant self out of his courtroom in fast order least he/she have to assist in delivery. A dismissal is a fair possibility.

I totally agree with this!!

Your pregnant not disabled. Sorry but suck it up I did.

I've never understood this.

If you can't make it the extra distance between the regular spot and the handicapped spot, then how are you able to make it from the handicapped spot into or around to the store or office that you're going to?

Unfortunately, being pregnant is not a disability. By using the argument you did you could open it up that being over weight is a disability and they should get to park in handicapped parking.

I know how you feel tho, I was pregnant during a very hot summer in Texas.

Well being extremely pregnant, you can apply for a temporary handicap permit, at least that's how it is in FL. That cop should have let you off with a warning considering you're pregnant. I bet if it was a woman, she wouldn't have given you the ticket.

Most places have a parking place for your condition, I've been there too!!! In both situations. I have a handicap brother and makes us extremely mad when desinated parking spaces aren't used for the right purposes. Your legs are find, he's isn't. Think about that!!

Go drive in the carpool lanes on the way home ...

You deserved that ticket for parking illegally because you did not have the proper permit for those spaces. Get over it - you were breaking the law.

... now the carpool lane... THAT's where we get into some grey-area politics & a point could be argued.

If you really need a handicapped spot, then have your doctor approve one. Otherwise, start following the laws. Also, you generally don't get very far by lipping off to cops.
