psychology says majical thinking is involved in mental illness and yet we teach our children to use their imaginations all the time . Certain relions believe that their faith is real. Anyone have any thoughts on this ?

There isn't a thing wrong with imagination. Without it, there would be no creative people in the world. There would be no such thing as fine arts or entertainment. Books and movies would be unheard of. Imagination has nothing to do with mental illness, as long as one is able to separate the fantasy from the reality.

As for religion, every faith believes theirs is the true answer. Faith is not the same as imagination, although the Bible does produce some very strong images. There is really no comparison, however, between what religion a person believes in, and what is purely make-believe.

My Religion is written in a book with many parts prove to be true, it keeps the world together. I certainly don't know any fairy tale that does that. Amen.

There is no difference IMHO, because in both you have to believe or it doesn't work.


I also don't understand how people tell kids to use their imaginations yet balk when they finally do... (and are told to believe in something that you can't prove)
