First, combine like-terms:

3+24= 27.... And 4a-a = 3a

Now the answer has been simplified to:
27 + 3a. That's your answer.

You combine like terms. 4a and -a have the same term, as does 3 and 24. 4a-a = 3a and 3+24 = 27. So the problem simplifies to 3a + 27

Divide Terms
(+)4a, +3, -a, +24

Group...

4a-a = 3a
+3+24= 27

so 3a + 27

if you need an answer for a, you can set the equation to 0 so
3a + 27=0
3a+27-27+0-27 (subtract 27 from both sides to get variable alone)
3a=-27 (divide by 3)
a= -9

4a + 3 - a + 24 = 0

3a + 27 = 0

3a= - 27

a = -9

Check:

4(-9) + 3 -(-9) + 24 = 0

Combine like terms. Since there is no equal sign, that is it.

4a-a + 3+24
3a + 27

There is no solution, however it can be simplified to 3a + 27, if it was that equation equated to 0 then a = -9.

simplify it to look like this... (4a+3)-1a+24= _ the plain a is easier to look at as 1a, because a and 1a are equal to one another.
