I grew up in Illinois saying pop, moved to South Carolina and became a soda person. Now I live in Illinois again and I say soda but everyone here says pop. I'm sticking with soda cause pop sounds strange to me now.

I lived in Ohio until I was 10, so I said pop. Las Vegas is soda territory, so I switched. I moved back to Ohio for college, and had to go back to pop (but that was OK, because I could call shopping carts 'buggys' again). Now I'm back in Vegas, and back to soda. The pressure to conform is intense. I tried to fight the pop power in college, but my roommates were relentless.

I'm in the state of confusion and we usually say Want an MD, Coke, Pepsi, DP you should get the idea.

We used to call it pop and people on the east coast call it soda so it pretty much depends on where you are from.

I am in Nevada, and I have heard soda, pop, sodapop, or coke or pepsi. There are a lot of transplants here now, so the speech is different from when I was a kid, then it was POP.
