Unselect Autostart Upon System Start Up on some of your programs.
Laptop HDs run a lot slower compare to desktop HD, unless you want to fork out for a 7200 sata hd for your laptop.
Check how many programs get loaded upon start up and see if you can remove some of them for faster start up.
Also, you might wanna increase the physical memory of your laptop. That will help big time too.
Good luck

Take a look in the msconfig utility to see if maybe you have to many things booting with Windows. To open the msconfig utility, do the following. Click Start>Run and type "msconfig" without the quotes into the "Run" command and then hit enter. Now select the "Startup" tab. Remove the check mark from any software that you do not need to boot with the operating system. Click "Apply" and then "OK". You will now need to restart your system. That should speed things up a bit.
