I have been a Democrat and a Republican. I see both spend so much time bickering and fighting over stupid, petty issues.
I'm tired of paying a tax on every little thing and then watch the the goverment at the local, state, and federal level blow a good portion of it on pork barrel spending.
All these taxes: sales tax, income tax, property tax, death tax, lottery and gambling tax, a tax if I buy too expensive of a car. I mean what's next, a tax on tea.............Oh, there's already a tax on that too.
This is not what the Founding Father's had in mind. I'm not talking about Bush or Clinton. I'm sick of them all.
"The people should not fear their goverment. Their goverment should fear them." I think it's time for a change. Am I right?

You are not the only one discouraged. You are right. You have just said basically the same thing I have said many times, and heard said by others many times. It is time for a sweeping change. And just plain voting for the candidates they give us is not going to do it. It's going to take a lot more effort than that. But the first hurdle is the apathy so many Americans have. If we can't get past that, nothing will change - at least not for the better.

I agree with u on Democrats and Republicans, somew of my friends could care less about elections because of these two groups. I'm not sure if there is tax on tea, our founding fathers fought base upon the price of tea. This led to our revolution. I do agree that sometimes there are too many taxes but they are used for the government to have enough money to pay for stuff. Ex: the two wars we have, $= about 200 million or trillion dollars. How is the gov't gonna pay for that without making its citizens pay so much? So thats were the taxes come in.

I do agree with u that the government is scarring people and that civil liberties are being denied since Sept 11th. They have been violated by the Patriot Act, at Guanttano Bay in Cuba, and probably other places or documents that we have. Our government is suppose to protect its people but it can be argued that sometimes the legality of the government goes too far or too short in what it does. If u want change, for the coming election vote for the Democrats. They will change many things that have been broken, denied, lied, civil liberties rechecked, etc... If u want change then vote, because your vote is your voice and if its for change then you vote for change. Hope this helps u out.

Your right on the nose. Most of our government is made up of felons and crooks, and I mean on both sides. It has been that way for years. The Government serves the people. How can we have faith that the Government will create laws and enforce them fairly and swiftly when they think they are above the law? We have two parties so we can have two political views make a compromise in the best interest of the people. Is that happening? No. Congress and the White House are playing chicken with each other. Who are the losers? We are.

It's convenient for them that the main place for protest these days are on forums and blogs.

Do you ever feel like you are the only one with an original thought? I get so sick and tired of the ditto heads agreeing blindly without looking at facts. I know what I believe as I have researched most topics before I sign on. It goes on both sides of the aisle as well........believe it or not, there are actually good and bad elected officials in both parties.

Unfortunately, the government would prefer we worry about whether Paris and Britney are wearing panties. They would fear a thinking constituency, but as it stands, they have nothing to worry about.

I couldn't agree with you more. The objective of politics is simply to get re-elected. The whole pork-barrel spending is way out of line. The bridge in Alaska that serves no one? Way to go Congress! We are spending way too much money on "the war" (don't get me started on that topic) when we could use that money at home in a better way. Feed our hungry. Shelter our homeless. Fix our roads. Anything would be better.

Do I think it will get better? No. I think there is no distinction between Democrats and Republicans now.

I agree with you 100%, and I came to that realization in 1999. I invite you to take a look at the Libertarian Party. If they're a little too idealistic than take a look at the Libertarian Reform Caucus. We can always use another member fighting for freedom, lower taxes, and more personal responsibility!

Agreed.

I want a "None of the Above" lever on my ballot machine.

When that choice wins, the election is held again and the candidates on the ballot cannot run for public office for 5 years.

What do you think?

You asked your question. Now that you have, what will you do about it? Are you going to cower and be discouraged or are you going to stand up and fight for what you believe in? Look in the mirror, change starts there.
