sure, that is an extremely stable occasion of this straw argument. the important distinction between the pro-life and professional-decision positions is that the former regards a fetus as a baby mutually as the latter would not. to a professional-lifer, aborting a fetus is comparable to killing a baby. to a professional-choicer, that is not. for this reason while a professional-lifer asks why professional-choicers want to kill toddlers, he's only implementing his point of view upon the different area. that's the way you create a straw guy argument.

I don't see it as that. I see their arguments as valid. Why would someone who is such an advocate for life be so open to the ending of an unborn child's life? It's a valid question that deserves and answer.
Too often I see valid questions and opinions declared "straw man arguments" when the real issue lies within the person making such declarations. I think that people are posed with questions and logic that make them realize that they may in fact have it wrong, or that expose some vapid contradiction to their morals and values and in defense of their ego denounce said opinions as "straw man arguments." It's psychology 101 (I have a B.A. in psychology and I'm in a master program as we speak).
Perhaps you should explore internally just why these statements make you so angry, hash through the logic, and if you still feel they are "straw man arguments" present your case along with why you feel that way.

First, get your terms right.
One side is pro-abortion.
The other side is pro-choice.
No one I know denies the woman the right to choose to say no to sex except for those on the side of pro-abortion who say "But they are going to have sex anyway".
That is the LAMEST argument, and implies that human beings are not rational beings with the ability to restrain themselves.

The "pro-life" activists who seek to overturne Roe v. Wade, etc. Are acting based on their personal religious beliefs. And--since that's what their actual arguement comes down to, it won't fly--they won't be permitted to use the law to impose their religious beliefs on others.
So--as is common when one side in debate finds themselves in an indefensible position--they refert to "straw man" and other logically fallacious arguements.
Personally, like many Americans, I don't agree with abortion--but I'm honest enough to admit it IS a religious belief--and however much I deplore it, don't and won't attempt to force someone else to abide by my beliefs if they don't happen to agree.

When facts, logic and consistency are lined up against you, it's easier to joust with a straw man.

Because it is the only aurgument they have in dictating to people what they should do about their private lives!
I am pro-choice which does not mean I am pro-abortion....they can't seem to understand that.
They only hear their voice..........Because only their voice matters to them! They say put them up for adoption(instead of aborting).........yet the only ones who will adopt them are the childless couples!

Christian ideology isn't about facts, or common sense, or anything of that nature ... it's about faith
and if someone tells them that's what it says in the bible, they believe ... regardless of the consequences
the question I have is, if the bible can mean anything they want, doesnt it mean nothing at all?
