I might question that the execution of 13 million people doesn´t exactly put him in the great leader class. Putin doesn´t see the problem area here. I guess former KGB folks look at things a little differently. Here we go again!

It never ceases to amaze me that Stalin murdered millions of his fellow citizens and yet even today he is well revered by most of the Russian people. They say that without him Russia would not have beaten the German army. I would have said that it was the courage of the Russian people and the Red army that conquered the Germans.

I see Russia is getting into the revisionist history game too now. I suppose a lot of folk hark back to when life was easy for them, you only had to go to work where you were told and do whatever the government told you to do and life was fine. What's a few hundred thousand people in Gulags to worry about?

13 million? I do believe the figure runs more like 20 million people, his own went into the Gulag Archipelago and never returned. Ask them or their relatives how they feel about him.
