What my parents did, is put me in timeout for anything. However old the child is, is 1 minute. So in this case he's almost two? So put him in timeout for a minute and 30 seconds. If he gets up from timeout, put him back and wait. Restart the timer after every time he gets up. After he stays sitting the whole minute and a half, tell him what he did wrong(as he gets older you might ask him what he did). It may seem stressful, but it works in the long run.
