My husband and I have decided to get 'one big present' for the both of us this year ... an HDTV. Right now we are in the 'research phase' but if 'the right one' comes up at the right price anytime between now and Christmas, we'll get it ... and so we have something to 'open' on Christmas morning, we'll set the HDTV up and wrap the box! We'll get a few 'little things' for each other, too, but won't start that shopping until Nov. 1st. We actually LIKE going shopping when everyone else is, and the stores are decorated ... so we'll do that on at least one Saturday, too ...just for 'fun' ...

My daughter has a friend, who has all her Christmas presents by the end of October, and they are wrapped with the cards on them.
I make it about the second to last week before Christmas Day.
but I do promise myself, it will never happen again. Up till midnight Christmas Eve, wrapping, sticking.

No your not mad at all, I am almost done. I do not plan on being one of those people still shopping Christmas eve. You are really smart to start early. I suggest that to all people. I have got most of it for my oldest and started on the other kid. Keep up the good work.

My wife is done. In fact she was done about the middle of January. And to the tell the truth, I think she has most of next years done too.
What's her secret?
She hits the mark down sales after the holiday and stocks a closet with it all. SHe has a note book in her purse and she checks what she has and what she needs all the year long at every sale.
Shopping isn't a chore when you do it a bit at a time.
g-day!

No, you're very organised. Well done! I was just thinking about it today, and I promised myself I would be very organised this year, but in all honesty, I think it'll be the usual panic-stricken fever a couple of days before Christmas when I remember all the people I've forgotten, if you know what I mean...

Nope - I have almost finished mine. I made a start in January while I was on holiday in Thailand.
It's nice to have it organised, and to be able to give gifts that are a little bit different than the same old thing in the shops over here.

the assumption of giving presents got here from the three wisemen who provided toddler Jesus with Myrrh, Frankincense, and Gold. Giving presents is symbolic of this 2d. As for the greed, the "returns" and all the different stuff, like commercialism, blame mankind. It specific wasn't Our Lord's concept!
