The 14 years in recovery from drug addiction (and alcohol is a drug) have been a lot happier than the ones with active addiction. So, I must say overall alcohol has brought much unhappiness into my life.
Peace.

Unhappiness, alcoholism and money are the two things that can ruin a relationship. Alcoholism can be devistating, especially if the man is abusive, and there is a lot of that going on out there that some women will not report. I had an alcoholic father who drank his paycheck away, chased me with a knife and peed on me once. My mother, thank god, packed up and left.

Unhappiness. The drunk might be happier at the time, but look at how many family and friends are hurt when they die of cirrhosis of the liver. Look at how many people die in car accidents due to alcohol. It devastates their family and friends. There are also many violent crimes that wouldn't have happened if the criminal wasn't drunk. If the majority of people could drink responsibly, then it wouldn't hurt others. Obviously, that isn't what happens.

More of both, but I'd say a bit more happiness coz when you are drunk (not too drunk) you are really yourself, you are not shy anymore, you don't think about your job/family/study/money problems and you are happy and willing to know people and dance. And although it may bring some bad effects that we all know sometimes,I think this good things are more important
As Homer says: "Alcohol: cure and in the same time reason for all problems in life"

Alcohol is not the problem... it's the people that abuse it. It is like anything else, you have to use it in moderation, and if you can't, then you should not use it.
