While the US did not bankroll the coup that almost got rid of Chavez, we did applaud it. After all when another despot bits it that's a good thing. The fact that Chavez was elected in a rigged election makes him no more a man of liberty than Castro is when he wins his rigged elections. The USA is striving for freedom, always has always will, and we welcome the hatred of the dictators of the world as we would a warm summer day. Does the fact that Venezuela is loosing thousands of professional people a year a bother you, or is the price of a socialist Paradise the extermination of the productive

the reality that we've been the 1st to correctly known the coup that attempted to depose Chavez, which failed to truly have a stable lock on power on the time we regarded them because of the fact the legitimate government, and the reality that we could have helped help that coup in the 1st place, extremely did no longer win us plenty attractiveness with him. between that, and extremely some the anti-Chavez rhetoric that comes out of the U. S., i'm no longer stunned he dislikes the U. S. government. Chavez extremely has some unusual suggestions, yet i do no longer think of he's extremely risky. he's the elected chief of the rustic, and the elections have often been run in a honest and unfastened style, so he's no longer a tyrant or dictator of a few variety. he's a leftist populist chief, authentic, yet that's what the Venezuelan human beings desire. i in my opinion have confidence in democracy, so I could appreciate their decision.

Let's remember Hitler came to power via a democratic system, and Chavez seems to be following Hitler's playbook step by step.
Eliminate all opposition. Check.
Strict government control of all media. Check.
Invent stories about some racial group or foreign country. Check.
Steal the property of everyone who doesn't support you. Check.
Declare yourself dictator for life. Check.
Massive military buildup. Check.
Your kind would have defended Hitler till his very last days.

What are talking about? He has stolen the oil from the people. He has also stolen all other free businesses that were there. Things are much worse there. He is now using the little money they have not to feed poor people but to try to build a military. The poor did vote him in. They voted him in to take other peoples property. You see this as freedom?

Bush and Company can not accept anybody talking back to Bush like Chavez does. Right, wrong or in-between, Chavez is a challenge to Bush's myopic view of Foreign Policy. According to the Republican view of the World, America is the center of the Universe and God's favorite people.
However, others disagree, some of those others like the Iraqi's are perfectly welling to die for their Country, unlike Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld, and to prove Bush and the Republicans wrong again, dead wrong.

Chavez got to where he is by completely disenfranchising the wealthy in his country. The wealthy have no say, their money is just taken away and redistributed. His country may love him now, and they may be doing well, but he has doomed them all. The lower class just got spoiled undeservingly and they won't know how to handle their temporary prosperity.
I realize sticking up for the poor is great, but doing it at the expense of the rich is wrong. You are looking at a snapshot of Venezuela, the damage has yet to set in. Keep your eyes on it and watch, the US government won't need any involvement to derail that lunatic's experiment in socialism.

Your premise is wrong. The elections were rigged. And since becoming "elected" he has squelched free speech by closing public radio and threatening to mandate private school curricula unless the schools teach government propaganda.

Chavez, dictator of Venezuela, has vowed to bring down the United States. Yet the US still sells their products. Boycott all Citco gas suppliers, they are owned by Venezuela.

Americans(generalization) Don't seem to be interested or informed about their corporate/political agendas influence on their neighbours. As an Albertan I fear the voter apathy will result in the loss of sovereignty in my own back yard as we become the next to be" protected ".

Maybe because he's a dictator who is overtaking the courts, the media, the healthcare system, and now movies.
He now is making moves to make himself President for life.
Not to mention that he has developed strong ties to Iran and other terrorist-loving regimes.
How's that for freedom?
