I joined Gold's Gym last year before I got pregnant and my finanacial situation wasn't as bad as it is now. My doctor wrote a note last year and the fee was frozen until this year. Now I had a charge for $49.95 last week. I didn't know they were going to take it out. I told that manager that I had a baby and I was under too much stress and my financial situation was too out of wack to pay the gym almost $50 a month and not use it. I have $400 health insurance and $600 day care bill added to my expenses. My husband lost his job. The manager at Gold's Gym had no sympathy and would not help.
Does anyone else know what the contracts entails and what should I do? I don't have anywhere that I can change my address to. I am not totally disabled but I got my doctor to write a note saying that I could not work out because I was having heart pulpulations and anxiety. The manager stated that this was not good enough. This company is the worst I've ever seen to be as unimportant as they are.

I heard that if you cancel your bank account they will try other measures. And even put this on my credit. I really don't need or want this to happen. I have to buy a house sometime and I've been trying all year to get my score back up.

i use golds gym and i'm just going to type out what it says on my contract hope it helps you out

you may cancel the contract by mailing to the health club by midnight of the third business day after the day you signed the contract a notice stating your desire to cancel the contract the written notice must be mailed by certified us mail to the address that is on your contract (most likely its the address you that your gym is at now)

you should find out where to send it otherwise they will not cancal it

Change your account that they are drafting on. Go into the bank and tell them to cancel the draft.

If it is a credit card, tell the card company to cancel it too.

Go over the local manager's head and talk to their corporate people.

If all else fails, show up one day and then "slip" in the bathroom in front of witnesses. Then tell them the difference between a $1,000,000 lawsuit and a $100,000 is having the attorney type in an extra zero and a comma.

Send the manager a letter, disputing the charges. Do not speak to him in person or on the phone, only communicate in writing. Keep copies of all correspondence. Tell the truth, don't lie, don't be rude.

Every time he responds in writing, send another letter disputing the charges.

What do you mean "You had a charge"? Did they charge your credit card, debit card, or send you a bill?

Cancel the credit card, close the bank account, and open new ones with different banks.

You should go to your doctor again and claim to have severe back pain and you can not work out anymore. He'll write another note and you will take that to the gym and ask to cancel your membership because your doctor advised you it is no longer safe for you to work out.

Read your contract with Golds gym . I Had no problem canceling my membership after that one year.

If you have problems with Golds Gym contact their main office and make some phone calls.

Gosh, I don't know...can you contact their corporate company to complain? That can get them in big trouble in some companies.

otherwise, I'd say consult a lawyer, although i know that can cost $$$ too.

I'm sorry I can't help more...

Are you asking them to refund your charges, or to quit the membership? You have a right to quit. Tell them you want to do so. If they won't let you, go talk to a lawyer.
