No, ...I think we overrate many of the things we place our happiness in.

Yes and no. I mean, I think that happiness, in whatever form it takes in each individual, is the most important thing in a person's life. Without happiness, life is by and large rendered meaningless. On the other hand, though, I think our culture puts so much emphasis on its crazy, idealistic vision of happiness (the whole "having it all" idea- family, money, career, marriage, etc.) that I think people paradoxically make themselves very unhappy trying to chase our social standard of happiness. I mean, half the country's on antidepressants because we all feel like we're supposed to be feeling this elation every day of our lives if we're truly "happy." THAT kind of happiness, largely propegated by the mass media, is the kind that's overrated.

Happiness is like an illusion which we strive hard to get in that state. But like a mirage on the desert it keeps on moving farther away from us no matter how close we move towards it.

It could be rated over or under if it existed in the first place.

i really wonder what sort of mind comes up with a question like that - how do you rate happiness?? and unless you can answer that - how do you figure you are overrating or underrating something?

first find hte value of happiness and then think about the rest !!

It depends on the context I guess. If your talking about marriage then I suppose so. The children's health and well being are way more important than one parents happiness. Everyone has their own cross to bear sometimes.

I think true peace of mind/happiness, cant be overrated, but it does come from within, and not from your environment or status or whatever.

Seek the one true God, he can tell you more... :>

if i'm happy all the time then happiness becomes boring. i need the ups and downs in life to appreciate both the good and the bad. makes me feel alive.

I enjoy a little sadness every once-in-a-while. Without sadness, you don't learn to appreciate the happiness
