I just read that article too and while I don't care if someone wants to speculate about history in whatever way they like, what does bother me is the fact that the black leaders in that area freaked out and demanded that the bust of Tut be removed because they said it showed his skin lighter than they say he should be.
How ridiculous is it that a historical exhibit is being terrorized by overzealous individuals because they want people to say that King Tut was black, even though the experts in the area said that there is no evidence to support that.
Now before everyone jumps up my a$$ for my comment, consider the fact that I am not saying "There is no way he was black, or that being black would be a negative attribute". What I am saying is that you can't go around bullying people because they don't think like you, especially if what you are demanding they "accept" isn't even a proven fact, just a theory.

Too many people think of the ANCIENT world in terms of modern populations.
Back in the days of ANCIENT EGYPT human populations were distributed DIFFERENTLY than today. Human populations move and shift around and thousands of years ago populations were very different.
So King Tut's features were different from modern ******* Africans.
Many modern NORTH AFRICANS have features that are a mixture of ******* African and Medditerranan Cacausoid.
That was not the case in Ancient Egypt. There is a modern human population called Veddoid that is very small, and is thought to be a remnant of an early population that has been pretty much replaced by modern populations.
Veddoid groups are found in Australia, New Guinea, and parts of southern India.
One cannot make judgements about who or what an ancient Egyptian ruler was based on what people living there NOW look like.

How would you know? Do you have a time machine that you go in to see what Egyptians look like? The scientist are idiots you can't tell what the color of somebody's skin was by looking at their bones or anything. And don't say you know the Egyptians weren't black because the current ones living there aren't. America used to be all Native American but what's it's main population now? White. Nobody knows for sure what color they were so people need to just stop.

I don't know about any outrage with regard to Tut specifically but it's really difficult to say that the Pharaoh's were purely one race or another. Khush, directly to the south of Egypt, was a mighty, irrefutably black empire. They were a super power in the world at the same time as Egypt, Greece and Rome and continued to be a great empire for hundreds of years after the fall of Rome (sorry for getting a bit off point but had to give a little background). The reason that there may be a bit of disbelief is:
1. As was the custom throughout the world since the beginning of mankind, political enemies intermarry and have heirs. Common sense would dictate that this was also true of Egypt and Khush.
2. Khusites defeated and ruled Egypt for over 100 years but this is never discussed and not known by most (in this country anyway). This means that, of necessity, at least some Egyptian Pharaoh's were black but this fact is vehemently denied by most despite the fact that it's irrefutable.
To say that no Egyptians are black or resemble blacks is mendacity and shows that you've never been to Egypt. Please do some historical research people. I did mine. Additionally, you should also know that the ancients did not define race by color of skin - they defined race by nationality.
Sorry if anyone doesn't want to accept the truth (sure I'll get thumbs down) but disagreeing with irrefutable facts doesn't make you right, it just makes you ignorant.
James J - you're about the most ignorant person I've seen awhile and that's saying something. You obviously don't know this but there are 4x the number of pyramids in Sudan as there are in Egypt. Look it up. The truth of the matter is that we don't have to "steal" or "claim" anyone else's culture. We just need people to be honest about the accomplishments and contributions of pre-colonial Africans instead of spewing vitriolic nonsense started by a group of people who wandered around in darkness for over a 1000 years and then suddenly decided that they were better than everyone else (and proceeded to romanticize their own short comings, of course). .

No. They had been the equal color as they're in these days. However there used to be a interval from 750-650BC wherein a dynasty of black Pharaohs dominated higher and diminish egypt. They got here from the dominion of Kush, in brand new Sudan. Egypt had invaded Kush a couple of hundred years previous however it used to be in a melancholy, weakening each militarily and economically. On the opposite hand Kush used to be wealthy because it used to be in among Egypt and the sub-saharan tribes so any individual in need of to alternate might have got to move by way of Kush first. It used to be additionally wealthy in gold and ivory, either one of which Egypt lacked. So in 750BC king Kashta took his danger and sailed down the nile with an navy. The Egyptians publish little or no resistance and as a consequence the Black Pharaohs got here to vigour. They dominated good and controlled to style out many inner affairs in Egypt however most effective one hundred years later a far higher educated Assyrian navy took over Egypt. The Kushites retreated again to Nubia and dominated till the third century AD after they had been destroyed by means of the Ethiopian Aksum Kingdom.

I am not outraged, I am simply curious why some people are trying to push that argument. I have seen several pictures of ancient egyptians and there is no denying it. I think some people just want it not to be so.
BTW, I have been to Spain and many of them do look like the Germans and Italians.

Ahh.. Tut, was a boy. Who really cares? The only thing worthwhile he did was die and leave a well hidden tomb.
Nefertiti was Nubian.
It pays to remember that the Egyptians themselves didn't care either way - black, brown, in between - they just didn't care. There was no stigma placed on one's skin color in the Ancient world. Egypt was, for all intents and purposes - the world's first melting pot.
