The reason so many people are over-weight is because eating healthy is so expensive. After buying one subway sandwich you could have gotten a double cheese burger, medium french fry, and a small coke for WAY cheaper. Agree??
This is what I get for going to college. A brauder horizon. lol.

but some people (like me) don't have time to go to the store, make the sandwich, pick up the mess, and pack it up. Plus where will I keep in once it's done? Out in my car in the smoldering heat of Texas for about 4 hours while I'm in school until work. YUCK. Its more of a theroy i guess. Don't hate on me...

...and I'm talking about McDonalds dollar menu. Not the combos.

A broader horizon, you mean? Seriously, college?
There are costs beyond money. Bypass surgery is WICKED expensive. Being overweight is a hassle. Not getting your proper nutrients is hurting yourself. It is simple to get a sandwich or something without eating a greasy, fatty burger from a massive food chain

I agree eating healthy is expensive and may be part of the reason people are over weight. I went to Subway the other day and paid $8 for a sandwich alone. Even at the grocery store it's the same, for the price of a few pieces of fruit that will last 2 or 3 days I could get tons of chips or other snacks that would last a week!

think about how much more you get with the sandwich though. Vegetables, whole grain, if you choose wheat bread, protien, And the cost is not different. A combo at mickey dees is 4 to 5 bucks. A combo at subway is 4 to 5 bucks. The reason so many people are overweight is because they are lazy and subway doesn't have a drive thru.

Disagree. If you had run to the supermarket with that money you could have bought an entire loaf of french bread, some cold cuts and cheese from the deli, fresh lettuce and veggies and made your own sandwiches for a week instead of 1 day. They're better tasting and better for you!
It doesn't cost money to eat healthy, it costs time.
Edit to Add:
I do totally understand where you are coming from. I was in your situation not to long ago, and even after I had my first child, I was working full time, so we relied on take out and quick things we could pick up at the grocery store. But that is why I said that it costs time. Unless you have the time to go to the store and make food for yourself it is impossible to eat well, especially on a budget.

That’s only part of the answer. The other part is that we are no longer pedestrian: we drive everywhere. When we get there, we patiently wait for the spot that is 15 feet closer to where we want to be. When we get inside, we take an elevator to go up even one floor. When we get home, we park our keisters and watch TV or the computer. Instead of participating in sports, we watch those on TV too.
Even if you wanted to walk somewhere or ride your bike, you dare not do it because the roads are not designed for anything but cars, and we have laid out our cities and towns for cars, not pedestrians. So the store is four miles away, and even if were right across the street you would die trying to cross it.
Here’s the really absurd part: the only reason we care about the Middle East is that is where all the oil is, and we need the oil so that we won’t have to walk anywhere. Americans are dying in Iraq so we can be fat.
Pass the salt, please.

The reason many people are over-weight is laziness and poor planning and sometimes simply because they don't know how to shop well and make a good meal.
Fast-food and restaurants seem to be a staple in the U.S instead of home-cooking, and it's a shame because you’re missing out on really good and far healthier food because of it.
I'm self-taught and my kids will tell you "Grandma cooks better than Mom" but I can only get better and the fact is my kids are eating real food as opposed to processed rubbish and I'm not setting them up for a world of health problems.
Give cooking a go!

I know what you mean, it is so much more expensive to eat healthy. You pay more for fresh fruits and veggies and then they good bad if you don't eat them soon enough. You can buy fast food off the dollar menu and it is quick and convenient. The main thing you have to decide is--is your health worth it or not? I have been trying to eat healthier and it is a lot harder and more expensive. One thing that is cheaper though is drinking water instead of soda. People just have to decide what is more important to them.

Here's my theory on why there are so many more over-weight people today...
People used to eat fast food in the early 70's just as much as today, ya know... But in the early 70's everything was still sweetened with SUGAR!! Then, near the end of that decade... someone found out that it would be a lot cheaper to sweeten your soft drink with HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!!! Well, I think most people today would agree that High Fructose Corn Syrup is pretty bad stuff...
The thing is... you wouldn't believe how many food products in your home have High Fructose Corn Syrup in them!!!
Take a look in your fridge sometime... Ketchup... it's in there!! Salad Dressings, yep!! Any kind of Pop... oh yea!! Barbecue sauce... you know it!!
I believe our bodies don't deal with the stuff as well as regular sugar!!
Well, anyway, that's just my theory... don't know if it's right or wrong???

and it's the same in the grocery store. One orange is 79 cents and you can get a whole package of fat filled cookies for 99 cents. Go figure. Eating healthily is expensive.
