I don't think it's natural- sitting by a computer all day is rubbish!
I would totally recommend the film Office Space for summing up the problems of modern work, or even modern life- it's awesome.
Doing a boring job, for a company that doesn't know your name to pay towards things you don't want or to save for a dream you might not make though is a fairly terrible existence.
The worship of money and the manner in which are lives can totally revolve around it is hugely unhelpful and possibly damaging . I blame lots of differnet sources, but the insistence that we value our lives on things rather than actions or emotions towards one another is hugely destructive.
True joy isn't a new a new huge TV, a new flat, a new car- it's the joy people get from recieving those things. So, what i'm trying to say is that if anyone wants to get me a new TV or flar or car that would be great :)
Only joking- having things isn't necessarily a bad thing, and their production can fuel the economy- BUT there is a balance. If we have to exploit people for personal gain or strive for something that will come at the clear detriment of others I don't believe that thing is worth it.
It's difficult now everything in the world is so personalised (I have looked for questions directly related to myself on this site even) BUT it is vital to remember our connections to one another. We can't just act in accordance with our immediate desires if other people will suffer

No, it's not unnatural, my mum does a 8-6 job at a desk with a one hour lunch break. She gets a two day weekend sometimes, or one half day (including a full day holiday the next day).

Work stopped being a "natural" human activity Long ago.
Before Egyptian or Roman Cultures. The human body and Mind were not as stupidly designed, they are great Development for much else much more intelligent.
Work as it is,is a monochrome dichotomy for human lives, but is thought to benefit something else,a Thing. So with finishing the Forests and built on fertile lands, pollute the Atmosphere and so for.Plenty of burnouts for little sprks.
Remain in the Matrix and take your Blue pills, Mr.Anderson.
A legacy of Monastic caste routine, before the return of popular literacy. In that inherited pattern.
Edit_Brain capacity and activity developed from our changed locomotive standing up and activities. Not passive bend overs

I guess you have to define what is natural and not to you. as far as work goes, a 9 to 5 job is what most people want, or at least day hours. what is harder to do is work a night job, that goes against what the human body wants to do, we're not nocturnal. Sure people adapt, but biologically humans are not night creatures. Since we've evolved and advanced over the past hundred years, indoor and less physical jobs are more common. isn't it better than more physical jobs that we are no longer capable of doing? If it wasn't for work, what else would we do throughout our lives?

Yes, I think it's completely unnatural. I have a hard time sitting still for that long. This is why I work out during my lunch break.

yes, as far as our baser instincts are concerned... but a large part of the nature of "humanity" is culture... and as such this is completely natural.
