Instructions on the Internet says to combine 1 part vinegar and 2 part water. But what does the "part" refer to? i.e. cup, teaspoon, tablespoon, etc.?

Run a full pot of the mixture. A 12 cup pot would be 4 cups vinegar to 8 cups of water.
I, using the same mixture, run mine through 2 times then clear water 2 times.

It simply means use twice as much water as you do vinegar. You don't have to fill the pot with the stuff if you don't want to, but you don't want to use so little that it takes you forever to clean the pot either.

Assuming it's just the pot itself you need to clean, you can also clean it by putting 3 tablespoonfuls of salt in the pot, fill the pot up about 2/3 full with ice, add a little water, and swish it around. Takes out even the nastiest stains.

The measurement doesn't matter, as long as you keep that ratio. So maybe take a half-cup of the vinegar, add a whole cup water. If that's not enough to fill the coffee pot, add a quarter cup vinegar to a half cup water, and so on until you have as much of the mixture as you want.

If you are using the type of container where the water drops down onto the coffee and then enters the glass pot.....it is talking about the glass pot. Fill it with the water and vinegar and pour it as if you were going to make coffee.

If you need to do it two times, be sure to let the coffee maker cool completely.

It's just a ratio. The actual amounts don't matter. As long as the ratio is the same. 2 to 1 water to vinegar. You can use cups if that is a convenient measurement.

I clean my with filling the pot with vinger and water and letting it go through about 2-3 times then empty and run plain water through twice. This does a good job

The main thing is to run 3-4 cycles of water through it after you have run through the vinegar/water solution.
