Negative actions as in, he just let's everything happen and he will not do anything (positive actions) to change his life. Is there anyway I can either make him see that by choosing not to do anything is still an action? Or should I just let him make his own mistakes...?

Is your friend an adult? If so, there is nothing you can do...the only way most people learn is by being allowed to make mistakes and learning from the experience...that is just part of the maturing process...some learn it sooner and faster than others...some never learn unfortunately....
Sounds like you are just trying to make a point with him...and it will just fall on "deaf ears"...save your breath....you can't MAKE someone do or understand anything like that...

Well, Kant Immanuel is in no way related to negative actions. His highest moral dictum is 'duty for the sake of duty' which has nothing to do with negativity. You can ask your friend to do some indian Philosophy, which shall teach him about being positive.

If he doesn't want to do anything, it s his choice. He is not a stone, he's a human being.

I do not think he does really believe in negative actions only, because if he is thirsty he will surely look for water, and if he is hungry he will look for food.

If you have told him, yet he won't change, it's his decision. Just leave him alone. You can't force any change to others.

Maybe he only does that with actions that include you because he doesn't know what to choose or doesn't want to hurt you.
