I know it sounds like a disgusting question, but I want to see if anyone else who is pregnant or was ever pregnant experienced this. For the past two days my stool has been dark with a greenish color to it. I feel okay otherwise, but I did come back positive for beta strep, so I am wondering if this has something to do with it? I tried looking into this on babycenter and other sites, but I do not see any info about it so I am wondering if this is nothing to worry about.

Has anybody else ever have this? I will call the doctor of course to explain what is going on, but I just want to see if anybody else went through this. Any feedback would be great.

Poop color has nothing to do with anything except the particular bacteria in the gut at the time of digestion, and the food that was eaten.

So long as its not full of bloody mucus, or white, you're fine. It can be any color from brown to green to yellow and anything between.

Beta Strep is simply something that your body naturally has at all times, its not an infection that you catch or fall ill with. You have to take an antibiotic while in labor, or they will give one to the baby, as the strep can cause lung infections in a newborn. It doesnt effect your immune system like you're thinking.

The only thing that would mean anything is if you had the runs for a few days, many women tend to get the runs before labor.

It's probably something that you ate that's causing the change in color. It'll proabbly pass in a few days. It's fine, either way. Beta Strep has nothing to do with a sudden chnage in your stool. You are a carrier of the bacteria, and that means that you either always have it or have it often, so if it were causing it, you'd most of the time have green stool.

Just wonder what kind of prenatal vitamins you are taking. Towards the end of my pregnancy my doctor switched me to high iron pills. Within 24 hours my stool was like black tar. I wouldn't worry about it, pregnant bodies do all kinds of weird things.

Are you sure you didn't eat anything green? I don't think its anything to worry about, but if it don't go away by your next doctors appointment just bring it up and they can tell you what is causing it!
