Well, with you being pregnant it's really hard for you to do anything to get relief other than deal with it :( Your sister is right though. Sleeping on your left side will increase blood flow to your heart as well as increase your circulation, which is great for you and your baby. Also, to ease some tension on your back while you sleep on your left side, put a pillow between your knees to align your spine and take some pressure off of it. Did you know, that being pregnant, you can still get a massage? They have pregnancy massages which are reeeeally good for the baby as well as you. It may relieve some pain you may be having. I sent you some links to look at in the sources box below about pregnancy massage and about pregnancy pillows for your back. Well, I hope this helps you somehow, and good luck! :)

I had horrible back pain throughout my pregnancy. I'm a side/stomach sleeper and the only way I could sleep while pregnant was propped up on my back. It's recommended to sleep on your left side to help increase blood flow to the baby. However, it is much more important that you are able to sleep...any way that you can. Because without proper rest you are hurting both yourself and the baby. On that note, sleep however you can...I hate to say it but it's not gonna get better until after the birth. I found that taking a hot shower helped me back alot as well as placing heating pads on my back. But be careful with the showers not to make them too hot or take one for too long and limit heating pad usage to the nightime or something like that. Hey, try these suggestions, you have nothing to lose. Good luck and God bless.

back pain is normal through pregnancy and it does make a difference how you sleep. Depending on the side you sleep on, there is less circulation going to baby, sleeping on your back puts all the pressure there. Sleeping with a pillow between your knees helps alot. Warm baths will help with the pain a little and rest as much as possible. avoid walking around for extended periods of time or standing for to long. Rest is the key to a somewhat tolerable pregnancy, but sorry to say, you will not get rid of the discomfort completly.

You can sleep however you want to when pregnant. Theres no reason to sleep on your left side exclusively. You will roll over from discomfort before any position has time to effect the baby.

Back pain is normal in pregnancy. Drink a lot of water, do light exercises during the day, and stretch well in the AM and before bed.

You can also see a chiropractor when pregnant, theyre life savers.

Sleep on your side and put a pillow between your knees. This will keep your spine properly aligned while you're sleeping. It has worked wonders for me. I can't sleep without it anymore (I'm 35 weeks). I actually bought a body pillow and it's really comfy. I can also rest my tummy on it and that gives me even more relief :)

Go to a chiropractor I went to one with both my pregnancies it made a world of difference in my back pain and my headaches. He also said if your hips and back are in line you will have an easier delivery, makes sense to me. Both of mine were fairly easy compared to a lot of women.

I just want to add use the pillow like another person stated, put it between your knees it helps a lot, I still do that for back aches and my kids are 6 and 8.

You should get a body pillow. The only way I could sleep comfortably was to lay on my side with a pillow between my knees. It opens up your pelvis and takes all the pressure off your back. Plus you can snuggle tight up to a body pillow and it can help support your belly too.

Those pregnancy pillows are really awesome. I agree with the other posts about chiropractic care and sleeping on your right side. Hope you feel better soon!

The pillow between your knees really helps.
Left-side is best (for blood flow for the baby), but right is okay too.

Put a pillow between your legs or underneath your legs (if laying on your back)
