I had a friend once who found out his g/f was cheating on him... so he took her on a date that weekend to a nice fancy and expensive restaurant. Then, after they had ordered their dinner he walks around to her and gets on one knee and says, "Holly, how long have we been together now?"
She got all excited thinking he was going to propose and says, "Six months!" excitedly.
Then he reaches in his pocket, pulls out a wad of cash to pay for his meal and stands up and slaps it on the table.
"That sounds like about long enough..." he said, and then walked out and left her.

Well, dumping someone is a hard thing to do because "you want to do it in a way that causes the least disruption." I don't like making waves myself. I've got a really good heart and that has always been my problem. Now, if someone cheated on me then I don;t have a problem leaving that day. But, let's just say the person has been faithful to me but things just aren't working out between us. This is harder because it requires planning to leave.

Your friend was VERY creative! WOW! I bet he had many good laughs over that!
Most people tend to wait until a BAD argument comes along then use that as an excuse to break up so they can justify it in their mind!
The best way to end it with someone has to be a way that is dignified, fair, direct and well thought out, in my opinion.

I think your friend had the right plan.
Another one I liked was when I used to work in a florist shop and this guy came in every Friday to buy his g/f flowers. One Friday, he came in and bought a dozen, long-stemmed roses... with the heads cut off. To this day, I would love to know what he wrote on the card!

Well he is brave. That certainly wouldn't make him look good to future girlfriends though. I would be worried to even breathe wrong when I was with him.
I think the best way to break things off with someone is to do it face to face and explain why things aren't working out.
Cheating is quite a slap in the face though.

That is sweet!!! And he ended it with class. I like that.
There are two methods to braking up
1) quick and less painful. "I don't think this is working out and i am moving on get the F out'
2) Drug out festering wound (most common) People try to work it out, fight for months and start yelling and screaming then they hate each other and brake up.

Tell them off very nicely. Others probably couldn't handle the pressure of being dumped, especially if they've been married for so long or dated for so long.

Snap! That's some guts there. When I first saw the question, I was going to say that there is no good way to dump someone. But that, was a good way to dump a cheater.

I think you should just be honest and call it quits. If the other person cheats, why waste your time and get dressed up just to embarass and dump them.
