Okay,
I know this topic has been discussed plenty, but I want to make one clarification in hopes of more in-depth answers:

Dealing STRICTLY with the "sexual attraction" (NOT "sexual acts"), do you think pedophilia is genetic, acquired as a result of being abused, or a 'lifestyle choice'?

Obviously, it IS a choice to sexually abuse a child - but do people honestly "choose" to be attracted to children?

Note: I am in no way trying to justify child molestation, but I want your thoughts on pedophiles who don't abuse children. Once again, I'm talking ONLY about the attraction, NOT sexual acts with children.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it is absurd for pedophiles who don't abuse children to want to gain acceptance? Should more effort be put into "curing" the sexual attraction, rather than condemning it?

PS: Intelligent answers only please...obviously sex with children is sick ...but that is outside the realm of this question.

Pedophilles' brains are sexually wired differently than the norm. It is not a choice or acquired. It is still a mystery why this appetite exists for some.

It could be genetic. Or it could be caused by some hormonal/chemical imbalance while in the fetus stage.

I agree, more effort should be put into 'curing' this. But the thought of the act is so distasteful to the public, that condemnation is the easier choice.

I think that its genetic, possibly life circumstance related, but not really " a choice" . i mean if you are attracted to both adults and children, maybe you coudl choose to ignore the children, part, but thats again woudl be hinting that the original pedophillic attraction is either genetic or a product of life experience.

now i dont know about all of you, but i have had previously "fixations" on children, not exactly sexual attraction, but favoratism if nothign more, and a strong urge to spend time with the child. calling out her name even. lool. i think that its natural, in that way, but obviously the problem is, we dont want to condone any possible child molestation behavior.
but i think, it has the same chance of being cured as homosexuality, which is like zero.

first of all that is against the regulation. We should not permit the genes excuse something and each little thing. So what's left is psychological ailment or lifestyle selection. yet choosing intentionally this variety of lifestile, does not that still be an indication of psychological ailment? i could prefer to characteristic something, that replaced into not on your question. some paedophiles have a background of having been abused as a toddler. that would not be an excuse for doing the comparable, even though it somewhat is a popular clarification why human beings can turn paedophile. via how, during the approach against Michael Jackson, no person concept on the topic of the headlines years until now, wherein Jackson had suggested he have been sexually abused as a toddler.....

dealing with the attraction.. I would have to say all of the above... for some it may be due to past abuse... others may have a glitch in their genetic code... others may just say hmm.. that's the type of thing I like... .. I believe this is too complex of a subject to be limited to "this is the cause"... and as such you could make a strong argument for multiple causes.

is the temptation of satan...
this attraction is imoral..is a sin against God ..and the being..
Jesus said we better put a stone around our neck and give ourself into water then harm one of the kids at least..
any other answer is stupid..like:is illogicall..is against the rights of a child who has no reason..etc..even if the child would have reason..is a sin..an injury...a big evil..

It cannot be genetic..genetics..is a false theory..it would mean every newborn cild (that comes from God)lives in the prison of his parents genetical inhearitage ..that he is the robot of his ancestors' bad behaviour..
it is false..God gave everyone of us..a pure life to live and the power to do only good things..so we are not genetically coordinated..this is a blasphenmy against God..Himself..it would mean..i am my great grandmother..and i will do this and this...it would mean i have no private life from God and not personal power of mind and freedome to live the way i want..the way i think is moral...
the coincidecies are made by devils..they knew our ancestos..they made someone's grandfather drink and comes to make his nephew drink ..and make us consider is genetically..

I would better accept the idea that the son does..what he sees at his parents../grandparents..if he grows without morality..and nobody teaches him what is right to do...devil comes and makes him to do this and this..like his grandparents etc used to do...i guess so..

I know a man..his father took him to whores..destroying his life...his future wife...everything..

the adults must be with kids ..in the relationship that God Our Heavenly Father is with kids..and generally with us his children,,,

i hope i gave you an intelligent answer..

I don't think we choose what or who we are attracted to. I think some people are just 'wired' wrong or 'differently' and end up having strange attractions or fetishes. As you said, acting on them is a choice.

it is a CHOICE. everyone is given a mind and a heart to decide on what is it that one wanted to do in life, whether to make people happy or sad.
