I've never understood people who HATE others with that intensity ... I figure that I cannot do anything to change the way other people are going to feel - so I go about my business as usual & ignore them.

If they choose to waste THAT much energy & devote that level of time & emotion into "hating" me - then let them wallow in their own frustration...

This is not at all unusual when someone has been badly hurt and it seems to continue when other people start.
The question could have been--what can I do about the situation that hurts me so very much, I need to cry.
This person doesn't hate people, but needs people to be friends for him/her to be acceptable.
It hits hard when someone states their real feelings without explaining.

Avoid that person, someone like that has no credibility. You can't make everyone like you, anyway. An intelligent, normal person would not come out with a stupid comment like that.

I would sincerely apologize to them for having bothered them and then I would avoid them like the plague... unless they show sincere forgiveness and want to have a relationship with you.
