Can anyone suggest a good place for a student to work. Preferably somewhere that is the highest paid for the least possible amount of work.

Campus jobs are usually low pay and so are retail. I found I did best waiting tables at a really nice restaurant. Those who could afford to go there tipped well and the more buttons that I left open on my shirt, the bigger the tips from the businessmen on expense accounts.

Least possible as in they'll only need you for a few hours a week/weekends only, or a job where you just plan to doss about while you get paid? There's no such thing as a free lunch. Students wanting work are in abundance, and if your employers think you're a waste of space, they won't hesitate over firing and replacing you.

Your student union probably has a bar. That will need staff although the hours can be a bit haphazard. Bar work isn't difficult, but it can be quite tiring (depends on your hours). There'll be plenty of shops which need saturday staff, restaurants that need pot washers and waiters/waitresses. most of these you can expect about £5ish per hour.

To get high pay, you'll need an office/managerial role, and to work full time (37.5 hours per week). if you're in full time education, that ain't gonna happen!

If you are in a city you can do tours where people tip you.
You can make lots of money and work whenever you want.
For more steady work, you can become a bartender or waiter.
These are great jobs for students. The key is to avoid jobs where you get paid by the hour.
