Yep like Chili's, Applebees, TGI Fridays, and tonight I am eating at Joe's Crab Shack. I think all of those classify as American although they may have some other ethnic influence in some of their dishes.

I do decide on them of course but I don't think of them as american food. I think of them as fast food lol

Yes, if the menu has meatloaf or biscuits & gravy. (My husband doesn't like meatloaf, so I order it when we eat out if I can.)
