pelosi alone can decide what bills get introduced for a vote.
isn't it high time that the dems started to demand that the president meet them halfway or refuse to even debate or vote on his REQUESTS for more money?

lisa, you don't understand what i'm saying - the president has to ASK for funding and if the congress doesn't feel like voting on the bill they don't have to - ever!

No more money down a rat hole. For a bunch of people that would not pee on us, if we were on fire.

Debate and open dialogue is always a good thing, therefore I disagree with you on the question.
However, I believe it is time for Pelosi & Co. to remind Bush that Congress controls the purse-strings to his war. And that if Bush doesn't want to find a way to reduce the costs of his war (up to $16.4 billion/month in 2008), that funding bills will no longer be forthcoming, regardless of how much he whines to the media about it.

OMG, is my first Thought. I Thought on November the 8th when even the Republicans put the Demo crates in power would speak loud enough that us Americans are fed up with the Bush propaganda's and lies and would stand up for us once and for All. I am appalled at the oblivious handling of this Man and his demands. HE IS NOT OUR KING!!! He works for us. I try petitioning and getting others involved in acting out as that is our right as American citizens.
My biggest fear now is the President of our country causing our children and grand children to be hated by countries that they want us to believe are stupid. Please God gave us all brains: He did not say oh I will make one real smart people and that would be Americans Got to laugh at the thought. As a matter of fact they were surprised at the ability of the other countries to fight us back lol.
Yes! is my answer, We should not allow another penny to be spent on Bush's war game. the man is obviously mentally Ill and needs Help. If we as Americans don't stop him. Then we too have Blood on our hands. Great question and please help me spread the word to fellow Americans who want FREEDOM! XXOO

That would require a courage of conviction that neither Pelosi or Reid have shown.
Because if they were to cut spending on Iraq, then they would be held responsible for the consequences. And the Congressional Dems seem fatally allergic to being accountable or accepting responsibility.
They'll cave in.

Bush can not introduce spending bills - that is the sole responsibility of the US Congress. He CAN propose a budget. But he CAN NOT make law or appropriate funds.

There will not be any decisions made about Iraq until after the election. So, it's a waste of everyone's time to introduce a bill that won't get passed.
EDIT: I do understand your point. My point is that nothing is going to change until the next president comes into office. He asks for funding, they'll give it to him becuase they don't want to deal with it right now, and when the new president is sworn in, then there will be different steps taken.

I heard Bush saying he wants 22.3 billion of pork programs cut from the budget! If he wants 22.3 billion cut from the budget cut it from the Iraq war spending!
Cons say it will be the dem controlled congress' fault if we start losing more troops in Iraq because of it!
Which is a crock of sh*t because we shouldn't even be there! When realistically the blood from all the causulties(US & Iraqi) are on the cons hands because we shouldn't even be in Iraq!

If they did, then Democrats would be blamed for allowing our soldiers to not get what they need. Any additional casualties would be blamed on them. I'm not a big fan of liberals, but I know they're not that dumb.
