The idea behind it is good, everyone working as equals and nobody owning anything more than anyone else, in practice though it is doomed to fail, greed and the need to get further than others or to let others to most of the work will always ruin it.
also i think i am right in saying in communism the government owns everything, i don't like the idea of that because of cases of corruption and ........ i don't really want to be working all my life and not owning anything to show for it.

as with most theorems about how societies should be run there are elements there which make sense and others which are not sound.. I think the root of communism lay in the need for people to unite against oppression then it itself became corrupt with the inevitable results. My Grandad had an interest but then the war came and he drew back from the brink as it were and I for one am very relieved - I was not the type they had time for - I spoke my mind to openly so would not have been popular among the party or because of association with them with other people, and growing up in 50/60's was hard enough without that.

Communism, it was a way for Marx and Engles to make a buck on a book, that's all.
I see communism as a religious story that mirrors the bible, the new testament more precisely. You have the good, (The Proletariat according to Marx) and the bad, (the Bourgoise)
Fight a great battle like the Armagedden and in the end you have paradise, the communist Utopia.
It's as unfounded as religion is.
There is a better way, Classic Liberalism, not to be confused with the American media definition of Liberalism.

The old joke is about Bulganin on a state visit to London where he was met by Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
So Wilson said to Bulganin: Tell me comrade, what's this communism all about then?
Bulganin replied: That's easy.
If I have 2 houses, one of them's yours.
If I have 2 cars, one of them's yours
If I have 2 overcoats - no that's a bad example
Why? Asked Wilson
I do have 2 overcoats.

Some of the ideas have merit. But in the real world, the idea of communism will never work. A sector of society will always be left holding the bag. Capitalism is unequal distribution of wealth. Communism is equal distribution of poverty.
