They are the type of people that want a distraction from their own lives. They are either bored, lonely or envious. They have problems too, but feel they can deal with your problems better than paying attention to their own.

Probably their own lives are so boring they need to know if anyone else's lives are equally as boring. And if they're not, they want to know every detail to fill their own boring lives, because living vicariously through other people is all they know how to live.

one word: 'CURIOSITY'.they r either curious to know 'bout others or they fancy interference in others life.and other reason cud be that the person might b so close to them that he wants to share other's happiness and sorrows n wanna know him more closely.
