In many areas, there are subdivision associations. Ask your neighbors about this. They can make you aware of what is going on.This association should have been made aware to you when you bought your house. Most of these associations are very legal, and they may put a lien on your house if you do not pay.

If your community streets are privately held through your community association, then yes they can charge you your part. If the community turned the streets over to the county, then the county is responsible. In our last development, the streets, curbs, sidewalks, street ights etc. were turned over to the county as soon as the community was more than 3/4 developed. But that was the arrangement the developer of the community struck with the county from the beginning.

Check with your area/zone's City Councilman. Don't be shy, that is what they are they for.

If you get the run around, go to the 'City Secretary' office, usually found in City Hall, fill out a form, and then go to the next City Council meeting. They will hear your complains and do something about it. OR they will find out what is happening.

The more of your neighbors that will go to the meeting with you, the better.

Don't be shy. This is why these people are in the position that they are in. To hear "The People". City Council belongs to you.
