betel nuts, stupid politicians, burning paper money, cram school proliferation, overcompetitive mentality, overglorifying anything taiwanese (any taiwanese who scores a small part in the international stage becomes a national hero), icky pop stars (most of the songs they sing are korean songs!! they just change the lyrics!), really bad acting, awful english accent, cars and motorcycles that don't let pedestrians cross the street first, motorcycles on the sidewalks, guys that walk the streets in their boxers and flip flops, discrimination (positive toward caucasians, negative toward ie. other asians)

A few things.
1.Politicians.
2.Traffic.
3.Pollution resulting from traffic.
4. Littering and smells from it.
5. Parking a car.
That all being said, in Taichung Mayor Jason Hu has done a great job in his time here to improve all of the above conditions in the last few years. People now generally will stop at red lights 95% of the time way up from maybe 40-50% on my arrival, and the line painting is better, you can usually follow the road flow more logically...
Garbage piles and litter are reduced overall here inside town. Regular garbage pickups seem to be doing the trick. The effort we put into recycling is perhaps doing something.
Perhaps one day electric cars will replace the old petrol cars. But we probably will still get the ol' buzzy smoky traffic for a long while.
As for parking, perhaps more public pay parkades will be built near busy areas... the new buildings all seem to have underground parking which is a good thing. But it will probably still be a while before we see much difference. A lot of the problems come from lazy cheap people double parking. Thats always amusing to see a fleet of tow trucks clearing the road in front of my home. (good job Mr. Hu) Lesson: if you double park don't leave your car. Otherwise you better pay and walk the extra block. 30 seconds is NEVER 30 seconds.
My boring (predictable) sermon is now over.

I dislike the uncivilization of the Taiwan politicians in the parliament. It is so scary to see them whacking and yelling at each other. I also recall a recent case on TV that they throw a bag of poo at another politician in the parliament. This is shocking for me. But the rest is all GOOD! I like Taiwan.

I'd go with Betel nut and the associated bit of spitting as well.
Other than that, the polution in Taipei is way better than before, you rarely see that stream of black ehaust smoke from taxis, bikes and trucks. The Garbage collection system has removed the litter off the streets, many new bins are being put into place all over the city for you to throw your thrash.
Things are being handled correctly.
EDIT:
I agree with Violetta on the average Taiwanese house as being "untidy" Actually it is an Organised untidiness. We recycle a lot and dont throw things away. I am now guilty of leaving my house in the same way. I have been assimilated.

Taiwanese entertainment industries, cos all they ever do is copy from Japanese. Most of the popular songs & variety shows' concepts are copied from the Japanese. Lack originality, no creativity.
I also hate crossing the road in Taiwan.

Know-it-all foreigners who make excuses for skulduggery if Taiwanese people do it--I love the word "skulduggery' because "Doug' is my real name--from fear of sounding racist.
Betel nuts--most revolting substance in the world.
There are a few other things, but they are minor. The list of things I like is a lot longer than the list of things I don't like.
