I had a huge arguement with my partner the other day and when I lost my temper I lashed out and punched him in the face. I just assumed he would take it but in retaliation he swung round with his arm and punched me on my arm, and now its starting to bruise badly. what should i do?

Apologize and seek counseling for anger issues. Perhaps couples counseling would work well also. He also needs to apologize to you, even though you should not have hit him, he still did not have to hit you back and two wrongs do not make a right and you did not "MAKE" him hit you, it was his own decision.

You could both be arrested. Your partner (same sex, I suppose) and you are both culprits in domestic violence. Relationships are based on communication. Both of you should sit and talk about what happened. If this is the first time that things have gone this bad, there is an underlying reason for it. You need to sit and examine together what the issues are in your relationship.

You have to work on your temper. You have a bruise but you decked him in the face. It's a wash. Sit and talk and decide to stay or end the relationship.

Get some counseling. Anger management would be good for both of you. Relationships should not be violent. Violent relationships in the early stages can be turned around with proper Anger Management techniques. If all else fails, get away from one another. If you can't stop the violence, it can spread to your future children. And the government doesn't take to abused children very well. It ends up as heartache for everyone involved.

there's some serious talking to be done here - and when i say talking, i mean verbally, not in the physical expression sense. there is never any excuse for using force. if you do resolve whatever it is you were arguing about and things become that heated again, walk away.

on what i think is a plus side, neither of you would have become so passionate if you didn't have some sort of deep feelings towards each other.

if you're afraid of your partner and he uses force on a more long-term basis, as a woman you are vulnerable and need to speak to family and friends, anyone who is close to you and you trust to seek advice from.

Apologize and maybe your partner will do the same. No matter how angry you are with someone there is no reason to act violently and you definitely have no right to complain about retaliation. At least your partner didn't punch you in the face!

Well considering you did hit him first you should apologise. And don't act surprised that he hit you back, because it's what most people would do as an instinct reaction. And never assume that something is going to go a certain way, coz that's not going to get you anywhere. And you deserve that bruise.

lol.. What do you mean what should you do? This is a fight.. you deserved it for punching him.. If you're worried about the bruising go see a doctor.. just in case.. And for your friend, I think you should make peace with him.. Plus remember that fighting won't solve anything... see ya!!

You can at least cover the bruise on your arm, his is on his face. Buy him flowers and chocolates (that always helps) apologize and never do it again.

WOW vilence is a really bad way to show anger! You need to talk to him and just tell him everything that is going on and why you were pissed!
