A divorce or dissolution without a lawyer? we have been separated for 4 yrs., no kids, and no possesions to split up. I have had a hard time coming up with money to pay for it and even legal aid wanted $375. I heard there was a way you could do it yourself and only pay filing fees. does anyone know anything about this or who I could talk to to find out?

Your local courts have a divorce form that you can fill out electronically. You will have to go to the courthouse and file the document after you and he have signed it. You may or may not have to see the judge on the date of your hearing, but when the judge issues a ruling and signs off on it, you are divorced. Call your local courthouse and talk to the clerk. They will be able to help you.

Allison is correct. The papers are available at your local courthouse in the Domestic Relations office. Obtain the forms and get all the info filled in and signed by both parties and notarized. You will pay a fee to file the papers. (Florida was $65). You will get a cort date in front of a judge and will go over all the information on the paperwork. The divorce/dissolution is then granted or denied. Make sure both parties are in agreement before going in front of the judge.

You can go to the courthouse and ask the clerk what paperwork you need in order to file a simplified uncontested divorce. Sometimes you can even look online and your courthouse has the forms online for you to print fill out and then go to the court and file them through them and pay the filing fees.
